US Student Breaks World Record in 110-Meter Hurdles
American athlete Jacoby Tharp set a new world record in the 110m hurdles at the US National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) competitions.

In one of the preliminary heats, the 20-year-old athlete covered the distance in 12.75 seconds. The previous world record holder was his compatriot Aries Merritt: on September 7, 2012, at a tournament in Belgium, he achieved a result of 12.80 seconds. Tharp's personal best before this was 13.01 seconds.
At the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, American Grant Holloway won the gold medal in this discipline, achieving a result of 12.99 seconds in the final. In the same year, 2024, Jacoby Tharp won the Youth World Championship.
