China 'insistently' urged Russia and Ukraine to return to talks
China urged Russia and Ukraine to resume negotiations as soon as possible to end the war. Sun Lei, Deputy Permanent Representative of China to the UN, made such a statement at a UN Security Council meeting.

"We insistently urge to end the conflict as soon as possible. We also insistently urge to resume negotiations, demonstrate real political will, and do everything possible to eradicate the root causes of this conflict through full and unconditional adherence to the principles of the UN Charter," said Sun Lei.
He also noted that the war is increasingly affecting the civilian population, causing innocent people to suffer.
The Chinese representative stated that Beijing maintains a neutral stance, keeps in contact with all parties, and is ready to work with the international community to facilitate a political settlement of the conflict.
