Michael Jackson Film Became the First Biopic in History to Gross a Billion Dollars
The film «Michael» continues to set new box office records.

The film's worldwide box office gross has already exceeded a billion dollars. The picture became the first biographical film to achieve such high box office revenues.
Previously, the highest-grossing biopic was Christopher Nolan's «Oppenheimer», which earned $975 million worldwide.
«Michael» also remains the second highest-grossing film of 2026, second only to the animated film «Super Mario: Galactic Cinema».
Antoine Fuqua's film tells the story of Michael Jackson's creative journey from performing with the Jackson 5 to achieving the status of «King of Pop». The lead role was played by the singer's nephew, Jaafar Jackson, and the Jackson family partially financed the filming.
Critics call the film very saccharine. It completely bypasses the issue of child sexual abuse allegations against Michael Jackson.
