The humble schoolboy didn't expect to become popular.

Gomel regional television recently aired a report about a student squad working on weeding potatoes in the fields of the experimental base "Krynichnaya" in the Mozyr district. An interview with one of the young men went viral on social media.

“This is my first time working in a student squad – everything is great. Here in the fields we gather, pull out weeds, other grass. We don't touch the potatoes. We walk through the fields. Everyone has their own path.

Everything is great here. All the conditions are super. We work. Yes, as I said, it's almost everyone's first time here. They gave us everything. Work clothes. Water. Everything is available. Caps, gloves. Everything is great,” the guy described with a smile.

The hero turned out to be Vadim Khodzik, a future 10th-grader. He studies at Secondary School No. 16 in Mozyr, writes BelTA.

In life, Vadim is a modest guy, he doesn't use social media.

“Of course, I didn't think I'd become popular. I was just working in the fields, journalists came — and bam, I wake up already popular,” he said, surprised.

The guy reacts to such fame calmly and indifferently. “Many people have already sent this to me: friends and acquaintances. Everyone reacts calmly, I react calmly, and everything is fine. I saw that many people wrote in the comments, but no strangers personally wrote to me. I don't care if there will be talk about this at school. We'll see on September 1st.”

The guy signed up for the student squad and initially planned to work in grain fields. But he ended up weeding potatoes. “It’s also not a difficult job, it’s fine.”

The schoolchildren start working at 9:30 AM and leave at 1:00 PM. "I went just to have money, I wanted to earn something for myself. I usually spend it on clothes and food," Vadim Khodzik said.

The schoolboy is moving to the 10th grade but has already decided on his future. A good knowledge of social studies and history prompted him to look towards legal specialties and universities in Minsk. Since childhood, Vadim Khodzik has also been fond of Greco-Roman wrestling, often competing and even winning regional competitions.
