Russian Orthodox Church approved a prayer in defense of Crimea
It speaks of victory over "visible and invisible adversaries"
The Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church has approved the text of a prayer in which the Lord and saints are asked for the defense of Crimea, victory over the enemy, and help for the Russian army, writes "Novaya Gazeta Europe".
It is about the prayer to the Council of Crimean Saints. In it, the Lord is asked to grant victory over "visible and invisible adversaries," and the Theotokos (Mother of God) — to strengthen "Orthodox habitation" in Crimea and bestow "victory from Heaven."
Saint Fyodor Ushakov is called in the prayer "the leader of the peaceful population, the patron of the Russian fleet and Sevastopol" and is invoked for help.
For Russia, "protection from the invasion of foreign tribes and internecine strife" is requested, for the army — "success in the defense of our Fatherland," and for all Orthodox Christians — "help in spiritual struggle."
