Testing of self-check-in and baggage drop-off service launched at Minsk airport
What is the system?
The system consists of a self-check-in counter and two small kiosks with a self-bag-drop (drop-off) function, installed at check-in counters №33—34 (information about baggage drop-off locations will also be displayed on the monitors of these counters).
The self-check-in counter is located in the departure area (3rd floor) near entrance 3—4, in close proximity to check-in counters №33—34.
On the self-check-in counter's start page, three options will be offered:
— check in for a flight (for passengers who have not pre-registered online),
— self-service baggage drop-off (for passengers who have a boarding pass and wish to check in their luggage),
— print a boarding pass (for passengers who have pre-registered online).
During self-check-in, the passenger will see instructions with the sequence of actions on the screen, depending on the required option.
If the system identifies the passenger's documents as requiring additional verification, it will suggest approaching the check-in counter. After printing the boarding pass, passengers can proceed to the self-service baggage drop-off option or head to the security checkpoint for pre-flight procedures if their fare does not include baggage allowance. Oversized baggage is not permitted for self-drop-off.
When self-tagging baggage, it is also necessary to follow the on-screen instructions.
Scales for determining baggage weight are located next to the counter. Passengers will be asked to confirm the absence of dangerous goods.
Upon following all instructions, the machine will issue a baggage tag, which must be affixed to the suitcase or bag according to the visual guide. Next, the system will suggest proceeding to the self-service baggage drop-off kiosk, which is located to the right, at check-in counters №33—34. When using the self-service baggage drop-off, the passenger will see instructions with the sequence of actions on the kiosk screen. It is necessary to place the baggage on the conveyor belt, scan the baggage tag, and verify the data appearing on the screen. If everything is correct, the baggage can be sent.
Passengers will be able to check in for a flight 24 hours before departure, and drop off baggage 2 hours before departure.
The service is being launched jointly with Aeroflot Airlines and in cooperation with Business Travel company. In the near future, the service will only be available for Aeroflot flights.
