Tusk: US ready to send troops to Ukraine

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, following a teleconference of European leaders, stated that the US has for the first time expressed readiness to provide Ukraine with security guarantees that may include the presence of American troops on its territory, reports "RBC-Ukraine".

According to Donald Tusk, such an approach gives hope for the end of the war, but for Kyiv, this requires a compromise approach on territorial issues. He noted that possible territorial concessions must be accompanied by real security guarantees after peace is achieved.

On December 28, the presidents of Ukraine and the USA, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump, discussed the American peace plan for Ukraine. After the meeting, Trump reported some progress on Donbas, but a final decision has not yet been made. He also announced the creation of a special working group for peaceful settlement, which will interact with Russia.

Zelenskyy noted that the peace plan is 90% agreed upon, and security guarantees from the US are 100%. According to media reports, Trump is ready to approve these guarantees through the US Congress, and French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed progress in the issue of contributions from the "coalition of the willing" countries to Ukraine's security.

Allies plan to meet in January for final agreement on guarantees, including considering the possibility of deploying foreign troops on Ukrainian territory.
