In the Brest region, an individual entrepreneur who provided funeral services was brought to court after a tax authority inspection. The reason for the attention to his business was an unusual situation: only women were officially employed, although the work required heavy physical labor, reports the Ministry of Taxes and Duties.

As it turned out during the inspection, the entrepreneur provided funeral services — organizing funerals, selling coffins, wreaths, candles, and crosses. However, part of the work, related to digging graves, carrying coffins, and escorting the deceased, was physically demanding. This raised suspicions among tax authorities, as it was unlikely that such work was performed exclusively by women.
The inspection, conducted by the Ministry of Taxes and Duties of the Republic of Belarus in the Brest region, revealed that the entrepreneur actually involved at least two men in the work, but did not officially employ them. They were paid "under the table" — without being recorded in accounting documents, without tax deductions, and without contributions to the social protection fund.
The court recognized such actions as a violation. The entrepreneur was fined 50 base units (approximately 2250 Belarusian rubles at that time), and also faced confiscation of part of the income obtained from illegal activities — about 5%, which amounted to almost 9763 rubles.
In addition to the fine, he was also ordered to pay additional taxes for the employees he did not officially register, including income tax and mandatory contributions. In total, the unpaid tax obligations exceeded 16.5 thousand rubles.
