Trump demands $1 billion from countries for permanent membership in the Peace Council he is creating. He will be the chairman

Donald Trump offers states to acquire a permanent seat in his new international structure — the Peace Council — for one billion dollars. This initiative has already sparked a wave of criticism worldwide.

The Trump administration has developed a draft charter for a new organization, which is likely intended to become an alternative to the UN. According to the draft, which was obtained by Bloomberg, the US president plans not only to personally head this structure but also to introduce an unprecedented financial barrier for its participants.

According to the project, the regular term of membership in the Council will be three years. However, states wishing to obtain a permanent seat will have to make a contribution of at least $1 billion in cash during the organization's first year of operation. A representative of the American administration confirmed this information, noting that the collected funds will go directly to the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

The organization's charter grants Donald Trump, as chairman, virtually unlimited power. Although decisions will formally be made by a majority vote, each of them requires the chairman's personal approval. Trump will independently determine the list of invited countries, appoint his successor, and even approve the organization's official seal.

The initiative has already met with strong resistance. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that plans for the post-war settlement of Gaza were not coordinated with his country. European leaders, in turn, consider it unacceptable that control over the organization's finances will be in the hands of one person. A number of EU countries are preparing a collective protest against the creation of this structure, which many perceive as Trump's attempt to undermine the authority of the UN.
