Belarusians receive utility bills after January frosts. How much for heating?
Residents of apartment buildings have started receiving utility payment receipts for January. Everyone is particularly interested in the "heating" line, for which significantly more energy has been used this winter due to frosty weather. Office Life reviewed utility bills from various houses in Minsk and compared their amounts with the warmer December 2025.
First, let's look at old Khrushchyovkas. For example, utility payments in a two-room apartment with an area of 45.8 sq. m in a house built in the 1960s on Daŭhabrodskaya Street (after major repairs, but without external insulation) in December were 68.75 rubles (heating cost 16.45 rubles). In January, the final amount increased to 78.49 rubles (heating - 26.15 rubles). The utility bill became "heavier" by only 9.74 rubles.
Around 10 rubles were added to the utility bill for a one-room apartment (33.9 sq. m) in the Chelyuskintsev Park area: heating there cost 15.34 rubles in December, and 25.2 rubles in January. The final amount on the utility bill is now 72 rubles.
Apartments in panel buildings proved harder to heat. For example, the utility bill for a three-room apartment with an area of 70 sq. m in a panel building on Anharskaya Street cost 113.31 rubles in December (heating - 36.25 rubles), and in January it was already 153.38 rubles (of this amount, heating was 66.99 rubles).
The utility bill itself, as we can see, increased by 40 rubles at once.
Residents of a modern two-room apartment with an area of 54.1 sq. m in a panel building constructed in 2019 on Aleshaŭ Street paid 104.34 rubles for December (heating - 25.63 rubles), and 120.05 rubles for January (heating - 41.25 rubles). This means the "utility bill" cost 15.71 rubles more. By the way, this apartment has heat regulators and meters on the radiators, but the owners did not take readings from them and paid based on the average.
Those who pay for housing and utility services at the so-called full tariffs were the least fortunate.
For example, the owner of a three-room apartment with an area of 70.79 sq. m in a 1970s panel building on Asanaliyeva Street paid 280.16 rubles for utilities in December (heating - 199.43 rubles), and in January - already 371.43 rubles (heating - 301.36 rubles).
As a result, January turned out to be more expensive than December by more than 90 rubles!
