The peak of tick activity falls in June. Vaccination is an effective way to protect against tick-borne encephalitis. But will they do it now?
The standard vaccination schedule requires advance planning: the first dose is given in October-November, and the second — in winter or early spring.
This is necessary for immunity to form 2 weeks before the start of the insect activity season, BelTA reported, citing the Ministry of Health.
However, you can get vaccinated in summer, but in this case, the following risks should be considered.
While antibodies are being produced in the body, a person still remains vulnerable to infection.
There is no absolute guarantee: even a full course of vaccination does not provide 100% protection and does not negate the need to follow other precautions.
Basic rules for protection in nature
Doctors emphasize that everyone, including vaccinated individuals, must follow safety rules.
Choose clothes that are as closed as possible and light-colored — it's much easier to spot a tick on them.
Stay strictly on paths and avoid lying on the grass. Small children are recommended to be carried in a stroller or in arms.
Be sure to use special products (repellents). During and after a walk, regularly check yourself, children, and pets.
