A criminal case has been sent to court against a 35-year-old Minsk resident who grew two cannabis bushes in his apartment and stored marijuana, writes the "Minsk-Novosti" agency.
The man lived alone in an apartment on Maksim Haretski Street. According to the case materials, he had been suffering from joint pain for a long time. On one of the internet sites, he read that marijuana could relieve the pain. After that, he began to study how to grow Cannabis plants at home.
In a closet in the hallway, the Minsk resident created a so-called grow box — a special structure for growing plants. He equipped it with lighting, ventilation, and devices for temperature control. He bought everything necessary through a marketplace. He already had cannabis seeds — according to him, someone gave them to him at a rock festival.
The man planted two seeds, which later sprouted. He tended the plants, then cut the leaves, dried them, and crushed them, obtaining marijuana.
Some time later, drug control officers came to the apartment. They confiscated the plants, the grow box, smoking paraphernalia, and also found a container with 5.93 grams of ready-to-use marijuana in the kitchen cabinet.
The man was detained and a criminal case was initiated.
According to the prosecutor's office, he is single, works as a commodity expert in a private company, and had no previous convictions. He has been charged with illegal drug trafficking, as well as illegal sowing and cultivation of plants containing narcotic substances.
The Minsk resident fully admitted his guilt. A measure of restraint in the form of personal recognizance has been chosen for him.
