The incident happened on the Minsk — Smalyavichy route.
On July 14, an incident occurred on suburban route №447 that outraged parents: a disabled child was left by the roadside after the driver demanded payment, even though, according to legislation, the child is entitled to free travel. Moreover, on the same day, the driver twice refused to transport the underage passenger, reports smolevichi-24.by.
At 7:37 AM, at the "Dinarauka" stop on the "Minsk — Smalyavichy" route, the bus driver demanded payment from the child, despite the minor having a valid Group III disability certificate, which grants the right to free travel. After refusing to pay, the driver made the passenger get off.
At 1:38 PM, the story repeated itself at the "Belarechanskaya" stop in the opposite direction. The same driver again refused to take the disabled child on the bus, citing supposedly unpaid fare.
It was found that the driver indeed violated the requirements of the legislation, but, as it turned out, due to his own insufficient knowledge of legal norms.
"We established that the driver who served route №447 "Minsk — Smalyavichy" indeed committed unlawful actions, guided by a mistaken personal interpretation of legislative norms regulating the transportation of children with disabilities," commented Yuri Kulvanovsky, director of bus depot №18. "We apologize to the passenger and his legal representatives for the stress and inconvenience caused."
