Poland is verifying a warning received from Belarus about a possible terrorist attack
Polish authorities stated that they took seriously the information conveyed by the Belarusian side about a possible preparation of a terrorist act on Polish territory. This was reported by Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, writes rmf24.pl.
According to the Polish minister, the message was received only recently, so competent services are still studying it. The head of Polish diplomacy emphasized that any warning about a possible terrorist threat in Poland is taken seriously and is subject to mandatory verification.
Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus reported that during a meeting with the Chargé d'affaires of Poland, Krzysztof Ożana, it conveyed information received from Belarusian security agencies.
According to this version, a person currently in Poland, who was previously convicted in Belarus under several articles of the Criminal Code, is allegedly preparing a terrorist act. It is claimed that Polish authorities recently deprived him of additional protection and the right to reside in the country.
According to the Belarusian side, the alleged target of the attack is supposedly the minor children of a Belarusian activist living in Poland. The motive is said to be revenge for her allegedly not making sufficient efforts to preserve this person's legal status in Poland.
The Belarusian Foreign Ministry also stated its readiness to transfer additional information on this matter to Polish competent authorities, if necessary.
Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesperson for the minister-coordinator of Polish special services, also noted that Polish services always react seriously to any information about possible security threats. At the same time, he emphasized that at the stage of verifying such reports, special services do not disclose what specific measures are being taken.
