Sensation in the world of tennis: Sabalenka to play doubles with Djokovic at US Open
The organizers of the US Open tennis championship announced the lineups for the mixed doubles competition. The main sensation of the tournament promises to be the joint performance of Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka and Serb Novak Djokovic, writes The New York Times.

It was rumored at the beginning of the year that world number one Aryna Sabalenka might play doubles with the legendary Serb Novak Djokovic.
39-year-old Djokovic is a 24-time Grand Slam tournament champion. He was previously the men's world number one and held this title for a record 428 weeks. Currently, he ranks fifth in the world.
The tennis players are friends and periodically train together. They also regularly joke with each other on social media and organize dance challenges.
For Sabalenka, this will be her first mixed doubles appearance since March 2024. Back then, she played in a pair with American Taylor Fritz at an exhibition tournament in Indian Wells. Incidentally, this year Fritz will partner with Aryna's main rival — Kazakhstani tennis player Elena Rybakina.
The mixed doubles competitions at the US Open will take place a week before the start of the main tournament draw — from August 24 to 26. The main stage of the fourth Grand Slam tournament of the season starts in New York on August 30.
In the individual category, Sabalenka, who is the world's number one, won the US Open in 2024 and 2025.
