A priest from India is conducting the Christmas service in a Catholic parish in the Brest region. A priest from India serves in one of the Catholic parishes of the Brest region. This information was announced on the TV channel "Belarus 4. Brest," writes BelTA.
Harald Jude Menezes was born in Central India into a Catholic family. From childhood, he dreamed of becoming a priest. After his studies, he was sent to serve in Russia. "I heard a lot of good things about Belarus. When the opportunity arose to come here, I gladly took it," shared the rector of the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the agricultural town of Darava, Lyakhavichy district.
He is also the vicar of the Church of Our Lady of Fatima in Baranavichy.
Relatives and friends were surprised, but positively received the news of his move to Belarus.
"They quickly looked up where Belarus is on the internet. My older brother works in finance — he immediately asked about the currency. Someone else was interested in the food, what kind of people live here. They took it positively. Not everyone knows yet (I haven't told all my classmates, friends) that I am now in Belarus," added the priest.
According to him, Belarusians welcomed him kindly. "There is a good, friendly atmosphere both in the parish and in various institutions. I received documents for work — smiling faces everywhere. I meet people who are very friendly and open. This is one of the reasons why the holiday began for me: I came to Belarus — and the holiday began," said the church rector.
