Eight killed, 21 wounded in mosque attack in Syria's Homs

The Imam Ali Ibn Abi Talib mosque is located in the predominantly Alawite part of the Wadi al-Dhahab neighborhood in Homs, Syria's third-largest city.

SANA, citing a security source, reported that preliminary investigations indicate that explosive devices were planted inside the mosque. Authorities are searching for those responsible for the attack. A security cordon was established around the mosque, the Syrian Interior Ministry said in a statement, writes AP.

Tensions have escalated in several regions of Syria in recent weeks as long-standing and political rivalries continue to destabilize the country, even as large-scale fighting has subsided.
