Latvian Citizen Sentenced to Forced Treatment in Belarus in a Political Case

A 45-year-old Latvian citizen, Dzmitry Sivko, was sentenced in Belarus. In 2022, he was sentenced by the court of the Chyhunachny district of Homiel under Article 369 of the Criminal Code (insulting a government official), Viasna learned .

The man was prescribed forced treatment in a psychiatric inpatient facility with enhanced supervision. His further fate and exact whereabouts are unknown to human rights defenders.
