It became known what injuries the new Supreme Leader of Iran sustained

According to a source for CNN, Iran's new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, sustained injuries on the very first day of the bombings launched against Iran by the US and Israel.

The 56-year-old Mojtaba Khamenei reportedly has a broken foot, a bruise near his left eye, and minor cuts on his face. An Israeli source previously claimed he was injured during an assassination attempt on his life.

Iran's Ambassador to Cyprus, Alireza Salarian, stated that Khamenei was injured during the same airstrike that killed his father — 86-year-old former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei — along with five other family members.

Since the announcement of his election as Supreme Leader on March 9, Mojtaba Khamenei has not appeared publicly. According to the diplomat, this may be due to his injuries. However, the son of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that the new leader of the country is safe and there are no serious reasons for concern about his condition.

Iranian state media are currently using archival videos featuring Mojtaba Khamenei, as well as images created with artificial intelligence.

Prior to his appointment to the highest position, Mojtaba Khamenei led a rather reclusive life but was considered an influential figure in the power network established by his father. He has close ties with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and representatives of the Iranian economic elite. Observers believe that his political views may be even more radical than his father's.

In 2019, the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions against Mojtaba Khamenei, accusing him of cooperating with Iranian security forces. US President Donald Trump also called his appointment "unacceptable."
