The White House confirmed that J.D. Vance will lead the US delegation in the planned talks with Iran on Saturday.

Iran is expected to be represented by the speaker of the legislative body, former IRGC commander Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, and Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.

It was previously announced that the first round of US-Iran talks on a peace agreement is scheduled for Friday, April 10, in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad.

On the night of April 8, the US and Iran accepted Pakistan's proposal for a two-week ceasefire to prepare a peace agreement. Both sides, meanwhile, declare their "victory". As part of the agreement, Tehran must open the Strait of Hormuz for safe navigation.

US Vice President J.D. Vance previously called the agreement with Iran a "fragile truce".

From Iran, signals are already coming in regarding their intention to withdraw from the agreement with the US if Israel continues strikes on Lebanese territory. Several countries in the region reported new Iranian strikes throughout April 8.
