During the construction of a house in Minsk, builders replaced expanded clay concrete with "plasterboard". People raised the alarm
In Minsk, future apartment owners in a house under construction on Vyhotskaha Street raised doubts about whether the construction complies with the approved project. The reason for concern was that in some apartments, instead of internal partitions made of expanded clay concrete blocks, workers began to install light metal frames clad with plasterboard, writes "Minsk-Novosti" agency.

One of the shared owners was the first to notice what was happening, posting photos of the new structures in the common residents' chat. He noted that, according to the project declaration, the internal walls should be made of expanded clay concrete blocks, which people often refer to as "brick." Therefore, future residents questioned why a different material was actually being used and whether such a replacement was legal.
Overall, the information sparked active discussion among the shared owners. Many expressed dissatisfaction, believing that plasterboard partitions might provide worse sound insulation between rooms compared to more massive blocks. Additionally, people noted that such walls are much easier to dismantle during re-planning, so some speculated that this solution might only benefit those intending to change their apartment layout.

Since the project declaration indeed specified the use of expanded clay concrete blocks for internal partitions, the question arose whether the developer could independently change the project solutions.
The state production association "Minskstroy", which is the developer of this quarter, explained that it was merely a construction experiment. Light steel thin-walled structures (LSTC) with plasterboard cladding were installed in only two apartments to test the feasibility of using a new technology.
According to the developer's representatives, the goal of the experiment is to study whether construction can be made more economically viable, make the square meter of housing cheaper, and accelerate the process of house construction through more modern technologies.
However, "Minskstroy" emphasized that residents of this house need not worry. The experiment, they said, will not be extended to the entire building, and all partitions will be made in accordance with the project declaration. Thus, the structural scheme of the building will remain as it was originally approved.
The organization also spoke about the development of the entire residential quarter in the area of Vyhotskaha and Pauliny Miadzyolki streets. Construction in this area began in late 2022. Before the houses were built, the necessary engineering networks and transport infrastructure were constructed in advance.
In total, ten multi-story residential buildings with a total area of over 100 thousand square meters are planned to be built in the new quarter. The housing is primarily intended for citizens in need of improved living conditions. The houses will have 2-3 sections and 19 floors, and their structures will be manufactured at the Plant of Efficient Industrial Structures.
A special feature of the quarter will be the complete transition to electricity supply: electric convectors for heating and boilers for water heating will be installed in the apartments. Simultaneously with the residential buildings, social infrastructure will also be created – the construction of a kindergarten for 350 places, a school for 1020 students, and several open parking lots is planned.
This quarter will also be connected to the large-scale development project of the "Northern Shore" residential complex territory.
It was separately noted that the house where the experiment with new partitions was conducted is being built using a different technology. It is a two-section, 19-story precast-monolithic house with 150 apartments, which also provides for an electrical supply format and apartment finishing.
Specialists reminded that all design and estimate documentation for construction has passed state expert review. However, during construction, design solutions, materials, or technologies may change, but only with mandatory notification of the shared owners about such changes.
