Belarusian Scientists from Gomel Developed a Bio-supplement for Treating Male Infertility
Scientists from the Institute of Radiobiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus have been studying the negative impact of electromagnetic fields from mobile communications on the human body for five years. They found a bio-supplement based on a plant flavonoid for men. According to the developers, it has great potential — based on the supplement, a medicine for treating male infertility could be created in the future, writes Sputnik.
Over the past five years, employees of the Institute of Radiobiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in Gomel have been working to assess the negative impact of electromagnetic fields from mobile communications on living organisms. Analyzing the obtained data, scientists developed a line of biologically active substances with a wide spectrum of action, possessing radioprotective activity.
Among them is a supplement that showed a positive effect in correcting reproductive disorders in men.
“As a result of applying this remedy under conditions of increased electromagnetic load, the normal functioning of the spermatogenic epithelium (a layer of cells in the seminiferous tubules where spermatozoa are formed) is restored, and the production and viability of mature germ cells — spermatozoa — increases,” explains Igor Cheshyk, director of the Institute of Radiobiology, describing the principle of action of the bio-supplement.
Belarusian scientists have already developed a formulation for the remedy, the main component of which is baicalin — a flavonoid of plant origin. It provides anti-stress and neuroprotective (protects nerve cells) action under conditions of constant electromagnetic exposure. In the future, based on the bio-supplement, the developers want to create a medicine for treating male infertility, the institute confirmed.
