Taxi driver saved an elderly woman from transferring money to fraudsters
The man was driving a woman from Babruysk to Minsk and noticed her anxious appearance and her phone conversation throughout the entire journey.
She confessed that she was going to declare her savings. Upon arriving at the destination, the taxi driver saw a residential building, not a tax inspectorate, and was finally convinced of his suspicion. Thanks to his attentiveness, the money was saved, according to the police press service.
It is known that the 61-year-old woman was called by fake gas service employees and asked to provide a code from an SMS for "equipment verification".
Then supposedly law enforcement officers informed her that criminals were conducting illegal financial operations on her behalf. To avoid criminal liability, the resident of Babruysk was ordered to urgently arrive in Minsk and bring all her cash.
