The Russian aerospace company «Bureau 1440», which is developing a Russian analogue of the American Starlink system, lost one of its 16 first series satellites, launched into orbit on March 23, 2026. This is evidenced by data from spacecraft monitoring services, writes «Kommersant».
The company reported that six experimental satellites of the «Rassvet-1» and «Rassvet-2» series, as well as 15 spacecraft from the first production batch, are currently in low Earth orbit. According to them, these satellites successfully passed the main system checks, are performing maneuvers, and are operating in normal mode.
«Bureau 1440» emphasized that the loss of one spacecraft allegedly will not affect the launch schedule of the commercial satellite communication service and will not impact the quality of services.
The company plans to create a constellation of 292 satellites, including reserves, by 2030. The project is being implemented as part of Russia's digital economy development program and involves both state and private funding.
It is expected that satellite broadband internet from the «Rassvet» system will become available to corporate clients in Russia in 2027–2028.
