Polgar stated that she is not ready to take on the responsibility of uniting a society that remains deeply divided. Péter Magyar himself announced that the chess player had rejected the prime minister's offer.

"I do not feel strong enough to take on the historical responsibility of uniting a divided nation, therefore I cannot accept this invitation," she wrote on social media, thanking him for his trust.

Magyar admitted that he rushed the public announcement of her candidacy without waiting for the chess player's final decision. Despite the refusal, he emphasized that he continues to highly value the athlete and hopes for her participation in the country's development in another role.

Judit Polgar is considered the strongest female chess player in history.

She is the only woman who managed to enter the top ten of the world ranking among men, and also the first among women to cross the 2700 Elo rating barrier.

During her career, she defeated many of the strongest chess players in the world, including Garry Kasparov and Boris Spassky.
