Commissioner for Religious and National Affairs Subordinated Directly to Lukashenka

Alexander Lukashenka signed a law that changes the status of the commissioner for religious and national affairs. Now, the general management of the activities of this state structure passes from the Council of Ministers to Lukashenka's administration.

According to the new law, the commissioner will be appointed by Alexander Lukashenka and will be directly subordinated to him.

The politician's press service noted that this change should expand opportunities for operational interaction and faster resolution of issues within the commissioner's competence.

It is separately emphasized that ties with foreign religious centers, representing leading world confessions, often affect issues of foreign policy and national security. Direct subordination of the commissioner's apparatus to Lukashenka will allow for more effective coordination of work in these areas.

Simultaneously with the law, a decree was also signed, which approves a new regulation on the commissioner for religious and national affairs.

Gorliwy Litwin,
