Moscow may install payphones to cope with internet outages

Residents of the Moscow region have been living in such conditions for a long time.

"The time has long come for the revival of payphones, but with internet access. This will allow citizens to stay connected even during outages and ensure an adequate level of security," said Igor Antropenko, a member of the State Duma Committee on Industry and Trade.

He noted that residents of border regions have been living in such conditions for a long time. In Moscow, where internet problems have been observed for the last week, these restrictions are perceived "more difficultly".

Since March 5, communication disruptions have been observed in the center of the Russian capital. Operators explained the failures as "external restrictions." As "Kommersant" wrote, Moscow businesses lost from 3 to 5 billion Russian rubles (37-62 million dollars).

In particular, courier delivery services and order pick-up points are suffering greatly.
