Italian designer Adriano Goldschmied, one of the founders of the famous Diesel brand, has died. He was 82 years old; the cause of death was cancer.

Goldschmied was born in Italy in 1943 and became one of the key figures in the global denim industry. In the 1970s and 1980s, he participated in the creation and development of several well-known brands, including Diesel, which he founded together with Renzo Rosso. Later, he also launched the brands Replay, Goldsign, and AG Adriano Goldschmied.
He was often called the "godfather of denim" for his significant contribution to the development of this industry. He was one of the first to experiment with denim fabric treatment — using artificial aging effects, unconventional colors, and new approaches to cut. Over time, these ideas became standard in the industry.
In the 2000s, the designer actively worked in the USA, where he developed premium denim lines and collaborated with major manufacturers. His brands specialized in high-quality jeans with an emphasis on cut and processing technologies.
Until his last years, Goldschmied remained active in the fashion industry — working as a consultant and entrepreneur.
