According to the published draft law, a trial population census in Belarus can be conducted by decision of the Council of Ministers and must take place no later than two years before the main census, writes BelTA.

This means that a specific date is not fixed in advance — it will be determined by the government and state statistical bodies. But there is a main restriction: it must take place 1-2 years before the main census.
During such a trial census, all procedures are checked: questionnaires, methods of information collection, online systems, and surveys. It is conducted in one or several regions of the country to fine-tune the process before the nationwide census.
The draft law also states that:
- data can be submitted online or through interviews with enumerators;
- information is collected without mandatory document verification;
- people aged 15 and over participate;
- information about children or persons under guardianship is provided by adult family members.
