In Gomel, a Belarusian was convicted, likely in a new case of 'railway partisans'
The Gomel Regional Court sentenced 65-year-old Siarhei Stasenka, a resident of Laguny village, Dobrush district.
He was charged with attempted 'act of terrorism' (Part 2, Article 289 of the Criminal Code), 'illegal actions involving firearms, ammunition, and explosives' (Part 4, Article 295 of the Criminal Code), 'intentional damage to a vehicle or means of communication' (Part 4, Article 309 of the Criminal Code), 'treason' (Part 1, Article 356 of the Criminal Code), and 'creating an extremist formation or participating in it' (Part 3, Article 361-1 of the Criminal Code).
Judging by the articles, the man intended to damage the railway, writes "Gomel Spring".
The verdict issued is being clarified, but it is clear that it involves deprivation of liberty. The Belarusian faced up to 20 years in prison.
The man lived in the village of Laguny, near which a railway passes towards the Ukrainian city of Horodnia, and a military airfield is also located nearby.
