In May this year, it became known that one of Minsk's most vibrant party locations was ceasing to exist. The "Sandpit", which delighted city residents with food and a relaxed atmosphere for eight years, "crumbled". "'The lease agreement has been terminated. At this moment, it is unclear what will happen with the project next. For now, the priority is to vacate the occupied premises,' — this is how the project's creators explained what was happening. The publication "Onliner" took a look at what is currently happening on the site of the former "Sandpit".

"Basic" food trucks, which seemed to have already grown into the ground, quickly hastened to leave the site. The area, where people had recently sung, danced, and, of course, eaten, is now deserted.

"Minsk and its residents have had a piece of their soul taken away. Thank you for all the happy years and memories associated with this location";
"A legendary place, I met my husband here. We also celebrated our anniversary here";
"I discovered you back in 2020 and irrevocably fell in love. Thank you very much for the pleasant atmosphere, delicious food, and excellent organization," — such comments were left by city residents on the project's Instagram page.

Today, two and a half months later, the "squares" in the center of Minsk are still just as empty. The only thing that now reminds us that a vibrant party life once bustled among the former and active workshops is the street art left behind. Abstract figures, inscriptions, comics — all of it is still there.

Surely, everyone has photos from the "Sandpit" in their archives. You can compare the vibrant past with the subdued present yourself.

However, motorists appreciated the deserted site: there are now plenty of parking spaces.

Others can only reminisce and wait for the project's revival in a new location (or perhaps even in the old one — who knows how fate might turn out).
