Activist for Fair Elections Searched to Be Hindered to Attend OSCE Conference?

The house of Viktar Karniajenka, the deputy chairperson of the civil initiative ‘For Fair Elections’ was searched on the evening of July 11, Spring96.org informs.

The police was said to be looking for illegal literature.

Mr. Karniajenka was supposed to take his flight to Vienna where to attend an OSCE meeting on democratic elections and their monitoring.

This conference is also to be visited by the chairperson of the Central Election Committee Lidzija Jarmoshyna who is prohibited to enter the EU.

Belarusian human rights defenders consider the is aimed at hindering the opposition activist to attend the conference by OSCE.
