Tunnel for rainwater being laid in Minsk

At the intersection of Pryharadnaya Street and Smarhouksi Trakt, the only micro-tunneling complex in Belarus is operating, Minsk-Novosti writes .

It is laying a new artery for the city at a depth of 10-12 meters – a 670-meter long rainwater collector. This is a key stage of a large-scale project for stormwater drainage.

This section is the longest underground passage within the project. Out of the planned 670 meters, more than 540 have already been laid.

Work is being carried out in three shifts. Despite difficult soils and frosty weather, 10-15 meters underground are completed per day. Micro-tunneling technology requires a continuous process.

Due to the constant supply of water to the cutting tool, stopping the equipment can lead to its freezing, so work does not stop for a minute.

On the surface, in the pit, a jacking station is installed, which pushes the tunnel and mounts the walls from reinforced concrete pipes. A powerful 300-ton mobile crane is used for their delivery.

The new collector starts near the "Paunochny Bereh" residential complex, passes under L. Karastayanava Street and then stretches along Pryharadnaya Street towards Dauhinauksi Trakt.

Experts note that micro-tunneling technology is not just a tool, but a strategic necessity: communications are laid without paralyzing the life of a big city.
