Next week will see unstable weather with frosts and snow

Forecaster Dmitry Ryabov warned residents of Belarus on ONT that the weather during the week of February 16-22 will be unstable, with frosts and snow.

On Monday, February 16, frosts are expected to intensify due to the influence of a cold anticyclone, the center of which is gradually moving from Northern Europe. Light snow is possible in the southeastern part of the country, and ice on the roads. Night temperatures will range from -10 to -17°C, with clearings in the Vitebsk region up to -22°C, and daytime temperatures from -6°C in the Brest region to -13°C in the Vitebsk region.

On Tuesday, February 17, there will be little precipitation, but fog with visibility up to 500 meters, hoarfrost, and ice are possible. Night temperatures — from -9 to -16°C, daytime — from 0°C in the Brest region to -13°C in the Vitebsk region. The wind will be easterly or northeasterly, moderate.

On Wednesday, a moist atmospheric front from Western Europe will pass through Belarus with light snow. Night temperatures — from -1°C in the southwest to -13°C in the northeast; daytime — from -7°C in Vitebsk to -2°C in Brest.

On Thursday, the weather will be under the influence of atmospheric fronts from southwestern Europe: precipitation, locally fog, light black ice, and ice on the roads. Wind — southerly, moderate, locally gusty. Night temperatures — from -7 to -13°C, daytime — from -1°C in the Brest region to -8°C in the northeast of the Vitebsk region.

Friday, February 20, will be similar: precipitation throughout the territory, most notably in the Brest and Gomel regions. Wind northeasterly, cold. Night temperatures — from -3°C in the southwest to -11°C in the northeast, daytime — from +1°C in Gomel to -8°C in Vitebsk.

The weekend, February 21-22, will also be under the influence of atmospheric fronts: snow on Saturday, and possible wet snow on Sunday. Night temperatures on Saturday — from 0°C in the southeast to -7°C in the northwest, daytime — from -3°C to -8°C; on Sunday night — from -2 to -8°C, daytime — about 0°C for most of the country.
