In Belarus, the state standard for school clothing was changed . New requirements will come into force on August 13. The standard applies to clothing for primary, basic, and secondary school students. However, it does not apply to footwear and sportswear.

The current standard for school clothing was introduced in 2018, and now it has been updated, clarifying a number of requirements and terms.
One of the main innovations is the requirement that school clothing, which claims inclusion in a special register of Belarusian manufacturers, must be sewn on the territory of Belarus. In addition, textile materials produced in Belarus or Russia must predominantly be used in its production.
It is also clarified that for suit, dress, and knitwear, at least 50 percent of fabrics, knitted fabrics, or yarn must be of Belarusian or Russian production. This requirement applies to manufacturers who wish to be included in the official register of school clothing.
In addition, the standard has become stricter regarding product quality requirements. In particular, increased norms for fabric strength and its resistance to pilling.
The standard is also now used for voluntary certification of school clothing. Based on it, an online register of Belarusian manufacturers whose products meet the established requirements will be formed. This resource is intended to allow schools and parents to obtain up-to-date information about domestic manufacturers.
From September 1, 2025, business style clothing will become mandatory for Belarusian schoolchildren. This requirement is enshrined in the updated Code on Education.
