Recently, the dismantling of trade rows in the area of the Zhdanovichi Shopping Center has been widely discussed on social networks and in the media. It's even rumored that due to the construction of a new overpass, the legendary market might disappear, but the "Minsk-News" agency claims that this is not the case. In fact, the market, they say, is not closing but being rebuilt.

Last year, work began on the overpass project that will connect the Central and Frunzenski districts. The bridge is expected to help eliminate traffic jams and facilitate access to the Minsk Ring Road and towards Zaslavl. The new section of Kalesnikava Street will be laid over the railway and the market territory. In this regard, as the administration states, there arose a technical necessity to relocate some pavilions.
Alesya Patotskaya, Deputy Head of the Commercial Department, said that the relocation started about a month ago: pavilions near the "World of Fashion 2" Shopping Center are now located next to the "World of Fashion 1" Shopping Center and on the main site of "Fashion Quarter". The pavilions of the pet and plant market moved to the former "Furniture" zone.

The market has about 2450 trading points, of which 185 fell under relocation — most of the clothing market and part of the pet and plant market. According to Patotskaya, almost all tenants remained, with only 2-3 points refusing to continue operations. On social networks, however, the situation is allegedly exaggerated.
The relocation of pavilions is happening smoothly: some have moved only a few dozen meters, while others are still open to customers. Entrepreneur Oksana, who sells pets, notes that the move is stressful because transporting animals is difficult. But the market administration assures that the new location in "Fashion Quarter" will be spacious and convenient for everyone.

Other interviewed traders assure that they are satisfied with the reconstruction: they say the main problem of modern markets is competition from online platforms, and the new bridge, on the contrary, will increase customer traffic. All stores, including the Vietnamese cafe "Saigon", are supposedly operating as usual, albeit in new locations.
