Museum Planned for Former Valadarka

Several new objects are set to appear in Minsk in the near future, which should make the city more attractive for tourists and diversify the urban space, reported Belta, citing Alexander Yatsko, director of KUP "Minsk Heritage".

This is how Pishchalauski Castle is expected to look after reconstruction

One of the key projects is Pishchalauski Castle (or "Valadarka" as it's popularly known), which previously housed pre-trial detention center SIZO-1. It is planned not just to be renovated, but to be transformed into a multifunctional complex.

There are plans to open retail and catering facilities, host cultural events, and create a museum dedicated to the history of the complex itself and its development.

Another direction is Loshitsky Park. The restoration of its 19th-century historical buildings continues there. Plans include restoring the mill and converting it into a restaurant. The chapel is also planned to be restored, which will house an information center. This will be the starting point for park tours, making it more structured and convenient for visitors.

A separate novelty is the area near the Sports Palace. 16 small, non-stationary commercial establishments will appear there. They will house public catering points, artisans will work there, and information and entertainment zones will also open. Thus, it is planned to create a new recreational spot in the city center and "create full-fledged competition for the so-called private gastro-yards."

In addition to tourist attractions, a new specialized archive building spanning over 20,000 square meters will also appear in the city. It is intended for storing the archives of Minsk and state departments and will be equipped with modern systems for the secure storage of documents.
