The first road signs in Belarus, printed on asphalt, were made in Brest.
Brest became the first city in the country where a new way of helping guests was tested. Markings appeared on the carriageway of streets, which will help tourists find their way to the most iconic places and attractions while moving.
As reported by the Brest City Executive Committee, this experimental project is designed to make urban navigation as clear and convenient as possible. Instead of traditional signs on poles, the markers were decided to be applied directly onto the asphalt pavement.
To create the images, utility workers used a special road printer called «Stymograph». The image is applied structurally using cold plastic. This technology ensures that the signs will be durable, resistant to abrasion from car wheels, and will remain clearly visible in any weather — be it heavy rain or fog.
The first unusual signs on the asphalt can already be seen at two busy points in the regional center. They were applied near the Stele in the area of the delegation meeting pavilion, and also at the intersection of Maskoŭskaja Street and Partyzanski Avenue. The work will not stop there — the printer will cover the entire tourist route, which the Brest authorities have already coordinated with the traffic police (GAI).
