Will the metro be extended to "Paunočny Bierah" and how will Daŭhinava tract be reconstructed? What changes await the Central district of the capital

It is planned that by 2045, the district's population will increase by 100 thousand people. Housing construction will contribute to this.

The main development sites are within the boundaries of Orlovskaya St. – Gaya St. – Shchadryna St., with the demolition of manor-type houses. Also, the construction of the "Paunočny Bierah" residential complex, where it is planned to create about 4 million sq.m. of housing.

Simultaneously, the construction of a street-road network and social infrastructure facilities is underway there. Two electrical substations will be located in the residential complex, thanks to which heating and water heating in 80% of new buildings will be carried out using electricity.

Also, at the intersection of Vygotsky St. and P. Myadzolki St., two large multi-apartment buildings are being constructed for those in need of improved living conditions and large families. One will be completed by the end of this year, the second — in the first quarter of 2027.

In addition, the "Levada" residential complex is being built in the area of Navavilenskaya St., which is planned to be fully commissioned over the next three years.

Major repairs of the old housing stock are also underway. In 2025, more than 77 thousand sq.m. in 18 houses were renovated. In 2026, it is planned to repair 16 houses with a total area of 62 thousand sq.m.

Improvement

"Funding is provided with an increased volume for the current repair of the street and road network. In 2025, the top layer of asphalt was replaced on eight streets," said Valery Varanitsky, head of the Central District administration.

In addition, a decision was made to completely change the paving in yard areas instead of annual pothole repairs. Thus, 120 yards were improved last year.

Roads and Overpasses

According to the General Plan, Navavilenskaya Street will be extended to the Minsk Ring Road (MKAD). To avoid traffic jams, it will be expanded to three lanes in each direction. Simultaneously, modern pedestrian zones with bike paths will be equipped. The project implementation is scheduled for the next few years.

Work has already begun on the reconstruction of Daŭhinava and Staravilenski tracts. The first is being expanded from Cherviakov Lane and extended to Masherov Avenue. On Staravilenski, the tram loop is being relocated.

The work is divided into three stages. The first has already been implemented: the "Vozera" dispatch station is history, and the turning loop has been equipped behind the Palace of Children and Youth. The second stage is the expansion of the road section along the line of existing tram tracks. The final stage will involve the reconstruction of the intersection of Orlovskaya St. and Daŭhinava tract, including interchanges and new exits related to the construction of new metro stations.

On the section of Staravilenski tract from the Palace of Children and Youth to V. Slutskaya St., the number of lanes will be increased, the roadbed modernized, and interchanges and intersections improved. The full completion of the reconstruction is planned by the end of 2027.

In the same part of the district, the expansion and reconstruction of L. Karastayanava St. is underway, with its extension to the MKAD. One section has already been put into operation. All work is planned to be completed next year. These measures will relieve the transport load from the direction towards the developing "Paunočny Bierah".

Work continues on the construction of the interchange between Timiryazeva St. and Kolesnikova St. The new six-lane overpass will connect the Central and Frunzenski districts and will become one of the longest in Minsk — its length will be about 380 m.

Metro

Several stations of the third and fourth metro lines will be built in the Central district or in its immediate vicinity. These are stations in the area of the intersection of Daŭhinava tract and Orlovskaya St., on Masherov Avenue, and in Viasnyanka.

However, the metro will not be extended to "Paunočny Bierah": the soil quality and groundwater level do not allow it. To create convenient transport logistics for the residents of the residential complex, electric transport will be provided to new metro stations.

Culture and Sports

The National Museum of Belarus will soon welcome its first visitors. The landscaping of the park around the building continues.

A physical culture and recreation center for extreme sports on Narachanskaya St. is currently in the design phase. It will be designed for year-round operation. It will include areas for skateboarders, breakdance and roller-skating areas, and trampoline halls.

In total, more than 100 objects of various directions in the district are currently under construction or in the design phase.
