Iran Demanded $300 Billion for Reconstruction as Part of a Deal with Trump
Iran has included a demand for $300 billion for economic recovery in the draft memorandum with the United States. Mehr reports this, citing sources familiar with the document's contents.
According to the agency, the draft memorandum consists of 14 points and envisages a gradual normalization of relations between Tehran and Washington.
Among Iran's key demands are the complete lifting of sanctions and the naval blockade, the unblocking of $24 billion in frozen assets, the cessation of hostilities in Iran and Lebanon, and the withdrawal of American troops from regions located near Iran.
A separate section of the agreement concerns the nuclear program. Iran is ready to reaffirm its commitment to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and begin 60-day negotiations to develop a final solution on nuclear issues.
According to Axios, as part of the discussed agreement, Iran is also ready to commit not to develop nuclear weapons and to limit uranium enrichment levels under the control of international inspectors.
The publication notes that such provisions generally comply with U.S. requirements regarding Iran's nuclear program.
