Dresden airport's runway was closed for half an hour yesterday evening due to a dead hare. A small plane hit the animal during landing around 8:00 PM, Bild reports .

The plane was not damaged and was later able to continue its flight, but the airport was obliged to inspect the runway.
"The runway had to be checked for foreign objects," said airport spokesman Uwe Schuchart.
According to him, the runway was closed from 8:10 PM to 8:40 PM. During this time, firefighters removed the animal's remains from the surface.
Due to the incident, two planes – a Cessna from Hanover and a Vueling flight from Barcelona – circled in the air for about half an hour awaiting landing. A flight from Zurich was diverted to Leipzig: the Airbus A220 might not have had enough fuel to wait any longer.
