Mikoła Kandrataŭ was born on May 20, 1957, in Zamoscie, Tałačyn District.
He graduated from the Minsk Pedagogical Institute with a specialization in "mathematics" and taught for a year at the Vilejka Automotive Transport Vocational School.
He served in the army. After his service, he moved to Minsk and worked as a programmer at the Minsk Production Association of Computer Technology.
He started writing poetry in 1994.
He was published in the magazines "Dziejasłoŭ", "Maładość", "Połymia", "Vierasień", "Pamiž", the newspaper "Litaratura i Mastactva", and others. He was a member of the Union of Belarusian Writers.
He published several collections of poetry: "Vožera Rudakova" (Rudakova Lake), "Vieršy i zorki" (Poems and Stars), "Kropli dažudžu" (Raindrops).
