A black stork unexpectedly flew into Kalinkavichy. VIDEO

An unusual encounter was recorded in Kalinkavichy: a black stork appeared in the lens. For Belarus, this is a rare bird, listed in the Red Book. The video was published on the Instagram of "Kalinkavichy. News", the "Smartpress" publication noticed .

The unusualness of the situation is that the black stork is completely unlike its white relative in behavior. While white storks readily settle near people, on house roofs and water towers, black storks choose silence: dense forests, areas near swamps and rivers. To see such a bird near a human is a great rarity.

According to ornithologists, there are about 900-1300 pairs of black storks in Belarus. The species is protected and considered vulnerable: one of the main threats to it is the disappearance of its usual habitats.

By the way, the black stork has been declared the bird of 2026 in Belarus, and it won the popular vote.
