Vladimir Putin stated in an interview with Pavel Zarubin that contacts with Ukraine "have been established across several directions" and that "new proposals" have been received from Kyiv, reports "Dozhd".
Kyiv, according to Putin, proposes to stop strikes deep into the territory from both sides.
Putin claims that this proposal appeared because the "retaliatory strikes" of the Russian army are "much more powerful, more tangible, and, frankly, more destructive" and lead to serious consequences for Ukraine.
Another proposal, according to Putin, had not been voiced earlier — to limit combat operations to four territories: Kherson Oblast, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, "DPR" and "LPR," and to cease them in the remaining territories.
Putin believes that in such a case, the Armed Forces of Ukraine could withdraw troops from Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, and Sumy Oblasts, as well as from some sections of the state border, and redeploy these units to the four mentioned regions.
"Under conditions of a catastrophic personnel deficit in the AFU, they apparently believe that this could be salvation for them, but saving the Kyiv regime is not part of our plans," Putin said.
At the same time, Putin added that the main task for the Russian army and for him is the "final liberation of Donbas and Novorossiya."
