In the Dragichyn district, late in the evening on July 12, a fatal accident occurred involving a passenger car and a horse-drawn cart, writes the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Brest Regional Executive Committee.

A 55-year-old resident of Dragichyn, driving a Buick car on the road between the village of Pyarkovichy and Dragichyn, crashed into a cart moving in the same direction on the 19th kilometer of the highway. A 23-year-old local resident was the cart driver.
It was established that the cart was not equipped with the mandatory lights: white in front and red in the back.

As a result of the collision, the cart driver died at the scene. His 16-year-old passenger sustained injuries and was hospitalized. A criminal case has been opened regarding the accident.
The State Automobile Inspectorate reminds that in the dark, horse-drawn vehicles must be equipped with lighting devices, and it is recommended that cart drivers and passengers use reflective vests. This allows drivers to notice the cart in time and reduce the risk of serious road accidents.
