Postwoman in Byalynichy District Saved Villager's Life While on Her Route
In Byalynichy District, the vigilance of a postwoman saved the life of a 74-year-old pensioner. A man from the village of Asavets suffered severe carbon monoxide poisoning due to improper stove kindling.
The incident occurred on December 19. In the morning, the pensioner lit his stove and, presumably, closed the damper too early, reports Mogilevnews.by.
This led to the accumulation of invisible and dangerous carbon monoxide in the house. The rescuer was a postwoman who was on her route. Noticing that the homeowner was feeling very unwell, she immediately called an ambulance.
The man was urgently hospitalized.
As noted by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, this case is a serious reminder of the deadly danger of carbon monoxide. It is odorless and colorless, and symptoms of poisoning (headache, suffocation, weakness) are easily confused with ordinary malaise. Rescuers urge residents of private homes to be extremely careful when operating stove and gas equipment, ensure good draft, and regularly check chimneys.
