"Belavia" affected by large-scale glitch in Russian airline booking system
Due to a large-scale technical malfunction in the Russian airline ticket booking system Leonardo ("Sirena-Travel"), it is temporarily impossible for the Belarusian airline "Belavia" to issue, change, or return airline tickets, or purchase additional services.
Restrictions apply across all sales channels – on the belavia.by website, at sales offices, and through agents, the carrier's press service reported.
The company noted that specialists remain in contact and continue working under the current conditions. Belavia promised to provide additional updates on all changes and the resumption of normal service operations.
Earlier, several Russian airlines reported a large-scale failure in their booking and passenger registration systems. Problems arose simultaneously in several key systems – the Leonardo booking system, the Astra registration system, and the Sirena sales system.
Carriers such as Aeroflot, Azur Air, Yamal, S7, Ural Airlines, Utair, Izhavia, Smartavia, and Aurora warned about the glitches. As a result, passenger and baggage check-in for flights, as well as the issuance, reissuance, and refund of air tickets, are temporarily restricted in Russia.
According to estimates by the Association of Tour Operators, the incident affected about 20,000 passengers.
