In the last two weeks, US immigration services detained at least 7 Belarusians
At least 7 Belarusians have been detained by US immigration services in the last two weeks. The Association of Belarusians in America (ABA), citing data from the Byaction initiative, reported that the detentions occurred in the states of Minnesota, Florida, Illinois, Oklahoma, and Arizona, the 'Pozirk' publication writes .

According to volunteers of the aforementioned initiative, all detainees entered the country more than two years ago and were in a legal immigration process. They were detained during random vehicle inspections (stops).
None of them had a criminal record or expected to be detained. One of the detainees was released on bail, while the others are awaiting a possible corresponding decision.
Byaction recommends that Belarusians in the USA prepare for possible detentions. For this, in particular, they should find an American citizen or permanent resident (green card holder) as soon as possible who could become their guarantor. It is also recommended to prepare money for bail in case the guarantor cannot pay the entire required amount (from 5 thousand dollars).
The initiative also suggests that Belarusians discuss the conditions for filing a bond petition with their lawyer in advance, and if they don't have one, to find a lawyer who could file such a petition if necessary.
It is also recommended to prepare letters of support from acquaintances, friends, and colleagues in advance, memorize the phone numbers of their lawyer or a close person, and "to think in advance how to settle their affairs in case of absence for 2-4 weeks".
Byaction noted that in case of entry into the USA through the southern border based on parole using the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP one) application, the probability of bond denial is very high. In this case, it is necessary to be ready to defend one's case in immigration detention until the end of the process.
For the best possible preparation of their case, Belarusians are recommended to update and sign Form I-589 (Application for Asylum, and if denied, for Withholding of Removal), ensuring they discuss this with their lawyer.
