As per the case materials, in September 2025, the man purchased a bus tour to Georgia. However, at the border, Georgian border guards denied him entry. The reason might have been a previous trip to Abkhazia, writes abw.by.

The court established that even before signing the contract, the tourist had clarified with the travel agency representative whether there would be any problems crossing the border, as he had previously visited Abkhazia.

In response, he was told that if he didn't mention this trip himself, "no one would find out about it." The travel agency representative claimed in court that tourists who had visited Abkhazia had previously traveled to Georgia without being denied entry by Georgian border services.

After being denied entry, the man demanded the contract be terminated and his money refunded, but the travel agency refused to satisfy his claims.

The court concluded that the tour operator failed to provide the client with accurate information about the specifics of entering Georgia, thereby violating the requirements of legislation on tourism and consumer protection.

As a result, the contract for tourist services was terminated. The travel agency was ordered to pay:

  • the cost of the tour, amounting to 1568.86 rubles;
  • transportation costs for returning home, totaling 401.67 rubles;
  • compensation for moral damages, amounting to 400 rubles.

Additionally, the court imposed a fine of 1368.86 rubles for violating consumer rights.

The travel agency filed an appeal, but the Gomel Regional Court upheld the decision without changes. It has entered into legal force.
