Lukashenka called Ukrainian troops on the border with Belarus «tractor drivers and milkmaids»
At a meeting with Governor of Moscow Oblast Andrei Vorobyov, Alexander Lukashenka stated that Belarus is a very peace-loving country, which in any situation will stand by Russia. He spoke disparagingly about the Ukrainian troops concentrated on the border with Belarus.

«There's no need to push us to the point where Boris Vyacheslavovich [Gryzlov] organizes a process to drag us into the war. The Russian president and I have discussed this topic a thousand times.
Well, how can we fight against Ukrainians here, when on the other side it's mainly territorial defense forces? Are we going to shoot these tractor drivers, milkmaids, and working lads who don't want to fight with Belarusians? We also don't want to fight with Ukrainians,» — Lukashenka stated.
In general, he doesn't consider Ukraine an independent force, because, allegedly, the West stands behind it:
«I'm not talking about Ukraine. What Ukraine? It's not about Ukraine! We understand who we are fighting today. If they want peace, let's negotiate on the merits. We don't need war. We have enough land, enough of our economy, and enough problems. So, no confrontation. There's no need to stir things up here.»
At the same time, according to Lukashenka, «our position is peace-loving», but «in any situation, we will stand by Russia»:
«There's no need to stir things up, no need to shout, no need to try to hit someone in the face in a Russian manner, and so on. Let's act humanely. Understanding what Russia is and what we are.»
«I say this so that you understand my position. I am not hiding it. Peace and only peace. But with a full guarantee that they will not play games with us and, as Putin says, will not be able to deceive us once again. Because deceiving Russia is, first and foremost, hitting Belarus. We are at the forefront of our Fatherland, we understand this perfectly well,» he concluded.
